Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain is said to have disagreed with the claims made by his own father that he is planning to retire from Football, as he suggests that it was a misunderstanding.

Marca Reported earlier that Higuain’s father stated that the striker wouldn’t be continuing his career back in Argentina and would instead be moving into retirement.

“I don’t see him returning to Argentina. He finishes this year. At least what he told me, that he was retiring. He’s retiring from the sport,” Higuain‘s father declared in an interview with TNT Sports.

However, the reality doesn’t correspond with these claims, and now Higuain himself has publicly declared that he intends to continue playing.

“It was a misunderstanding that he had with me, at no time did I tell him about retirement, he expressed himself badly,” the 34-year-old declared.

“It’s something that can happen, but it has nothing to do with reality, I’m focused on the club and on fulfilling my contract.

“When the time comes, if that decision is made, I will be the one to communicate it, what my dad or other people may say in this case has nothing to do with what I say.”
