Manchester United have struggled to get it right since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club and they are once again in need of a new manager, as interim boss Ralf Rangnick is not expected to be in charge for next season.
Many coaches have been considered for the position, with Mauricio Pochettino being the main candidate, but Diego Simeone has impressed some fans due to his work at Atletico Madrid, offering a different alternative in terms of style of play.
Someone’s contract runs until 2024 and his future could be uncertain owing to poor performance in league games.
After the Red Devil’s exit from the Champions League, former Machester United players Roy Keane and Paul Scholes named Simeone as the coach who could turn the situation around at Old Trafford.
“Maybe Simeone, he’s the right kind of character,” Keane explained.
“He’s having a difficult spell with Atletico. His race has maybe run with them. Simone, go and get him, he’s a big character. He’s done great things.
“He’s a great character, a big personality. He doesn’t mess around with players. Maybe someone like him coming into the club, could work. It can soon change.
“I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom, there’s still good things going on at United, but they’ve got to get the manager. If the manager is not right, then the rest will just fall apart.”
