The recent exit of Juventus from Champions League will have an impact on the club’s finances and La Gazzetta dello Sport predicts another loss in the region of €200m for 2021-22.
Football Italia reported that Juventus announced a loss of almost €210m during the 2020-21 campaign and the pink paper reports that this season’s financial results won’t be any better for the Bianconeri. Their Champions League elimination at the hands of Villarreal last night prevents the Serie A giants from earning around €15m considering UEFA’s prize money and TV rights.
The same source also state that Juventus have earned circa €84m from the Champions League this season, €10m more than in 2020-21 under Andrea Pirlo when the Old Lady faced elimination at the same stage of the competition. Last night’s result pushed Juventus stocks down 9% this morning.
The report clarifies that Juventus have no liquidity problems after a recent cash injection of €400m, but the club’s plan to reach the break-even point in the next few seasons will be affected by yesterday’s result. This means that the only way to raise their revenues this season is by selling some of their players.
