The fire, which started at a corner inside the stadium, burned for around two hours and was tackled by firefighters.

The area was empty at the time it started and no injury recorded in the Sir Jack Hayward stand.

Great smoke was seen blowing out of the building and the stadium’s PA system warned onlookers to move out of the vicinity.

Marca reported that West Midlands Fire Service were first called at 1:56am, with the first fire crews arriving at the stadium five minutes later, with the street near the stand being cordoned off to the public.

Fire services left the scene at 6:45, with a small crew set to check the area again later in the day. According to Marca.

“There’s been a fire in the bar area, in the kitchen,” said Andy Howard of Wolverhampton fire station.

“It was contained to the room of origin but the bar area and part of the workspace was involved in fire.

“Otherwise, it was just smoke damage to the rest of the floor.”

Wolves were away to Brentford on Saturday.
