Maxi Rodríguez feels like a player from a completely different era at Liverpool, but Jordan Henderson is one man who overlapped with the Argentine at Anfield. The now-captain arrived in 2011, midway through Maxi’s two-and-a-half year spell.
Now less than a month shy of his 41st birthday, the veteran has just come to the decision to hang up his boots. He was given a rousing ovation in his last appearance for Newell’s Old Boys, with fireworks and flares sending him off for the final time.
Henderson has added to that farewell, with a video message for his former team-mate posted on the Newell’s Old Boys Twitter account.
“Congratulations on an amazing career, it was a pleasure to work with you and play with you when you were at Liverpool, and I wish you all the very best in the future. Take care mate, and remember, you’ll never walk alone.”
Maxi secured his place in Liverpool folklore with two hat-tricks in 16 days.
