Manchester United Legend, Paul Scholes have praised Old Trafford trio Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Antony for the roles they played in the 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday.

Red devils won the struggling  Everton side to claim all three points at Old Trafford.

Two goals from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial either side of half-time sealed the victory. United failed to convert their chances to extend their lead.

Bruno Fernandes was on fire for the Old Trafford club, leading the line in Casemiro’s absence and pushing the ball forward. The Portuguese maestro often found Antony flying through on goal after getting in behind Ben Godfrey, although the Brazilian’s composure failed him according to Manchester evening news.

Harry Maguire was added to the starting eleven, leading his side out for the first time in the league since mid-February. But the 30-year-old coped well with the physicality of a young Ellis Simms, doing his fair share to keep an all-important clean sheet.

“Bruno was as good as I’ve seen him in that deeper role,” Scholes told BT Sport. “He controlled play with real confidence and I couldn’t fault any United player. Really pleased with Harry Maguire as well, quite a comfortable afternoon against a young lad [Simms]. I’m not gonna say he looked back to his best but he’s getting close.

“Antony as well, I think it’s the best game I’ve seen him play for Man United. I did think he was a little bit of a one-trick pony but he’s learned to run through and he’s done that a couple of times. Another day he could have had a couple of goals.”

The secured three points took United back into third place, with Newcastle and Tottenham in action later on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds will now focus on a Europa League quarter-final tie with Sevilla on Thursday, although they could be without Marcus Rashford after the forward limped off and down the tunnel with a groin injury.
