Ajax fans lit flares celebration to show support to their team ahead of the derby match against Feyenoord burned down a banner on their stand after the choreography, causing a fire in the stands of the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.
Marca reported that the fire occurred at the front of the stand where F-Side and Amsterdam Casuals, two groups of Ajax ultras, usually meet.
Thick black smoke engulfed a large section of the fans behind the goal before the fire was finally put out.
“The fabric [of the banner] was made of fireproof material and the fire was brought under control thanks to the extinguishing efforts of club workers and fans. No injuries have been reported,” Ajax said in a statement
