Newcastle United announced the signing of Burnley striker Chris Wood for a fee of £25 million.
The player signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Newcastle.
Newcastle fans were happy to see the much anticipated signing at St. James’ park and the striker is excited to be part of Eddie Howe’s plan.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me and I’m delighted to be a Newcastle United player,” Wood told Newcastle‘s official media channels.
“I have played at St James’ Park a few times and it’s an amazing place, so to have the chance to represent this club with those incredible supporters behind me and my teammates is very special.
“The club and manager have been first class during this process, and I really can’t wait to get onto the pitch and repay the faith they have in me, especially with a vital part of the season ahead of us.”
Chris Wood is the second player to sign for Newcastle and a lot is expected from the New Zealand international as the club fight to escape relegation this season.
Wood’s experience in the Premier League will help lift Newcastle out of the relegation as shone at his last two clubs in Leeds United and Burnley, as he netted 44 goals in 88 appearances for the Whites before making the move to Turf Moor, where he has spent the last four-and-a-half seasons and scored 49 goals in 144 Premier League appearances.
