Chelsea has put some smiles on the faces of their supporters by officially announcing that veteran defender, Thiago Silva, has renewed his contract with the club until the summer of 2023.
Thiago Silva first signed for just one season in 2020/21 from Paris Saint-Germain, Silva extended his stay into the current season after winning the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.
He will now stay in London into a third year, with his previous contract having been due to expire in June of 2022.
“In 2021/22 he has made 21 appearances so far and has scored two goals, leading Chelsea CEO, Marina Granovskaia, to be particularly enthusiastic in her praise of the defender.” According to Marca.
“His qualities have led him to have such a huge impact for us on and off the pitch,” Granovskaia confirmed in a club statement.
“We hope he continues to have such a positive influence.”
