FC Barcelona have taken a decisive step to secure the future of one of their most exciting young prospects, with sporting director Deco already contacting the entourage of teenage gem Tommy Marques to discuss a new contract.
The move underlines Barcelona’s determination to protect their emerging talents amid growing interest across Europe, as the club continues its long-term rebuild centered around youth development and La Masia excellence.
Barcelona Acting Fast
Tommy Marques has rapidly risen through the ranks, catching the attention of the Barcelona hierarchy with his composure, intelligence, and maturity well beyond his age. His recent involvement with the first team, including continued training sessions under Hansi Flick, has only strengthened the club’s belief in his potential.
Deco’s early intervention is seen as a strategic move to avoid a repeat of past situations where young talents attracted external interest before securing long-term deals. Barcelona are keen to reward Marques’ progress while ensuring stability and continuity in their sporting project.
A Player in Flick’s Plans
Head coach Hansi Flick is understood to be closely monitoring Tommy Marques’ development, viewing him as a player who could play an important role in the club’s future. While the teenager is still in the early stages of his journey, internal reports suggest the coaching staff are impressed by his tactical discipline and willingness to learn.
The proposed contract discussions are expected to include improved terms, a clear development pathway, and strong sporting guarantees a model Barcelona have increasingly adopted with their brightest prospects.
Protecting the Future
With financial recovery still ongoing, Barcelona are prioritizing smart planning and internal growth. Locking down talents like Tommy Marques is seen as vital not just for sporting success, but also for long-term financial sustainability.
Talks are still at an early stage, but the message from the club is clear: Barcelona see Tommy Marques as part of their future and want his commitment secured as soon as possible.
