Everton have confirmed the sacking of Rafael Benitez, following the club’s poor run of form.
The Spaniard took over from Carlo Ancelotti in the summer, but poor results saw the fans call for his dismissal, which has now been made official.
Everton won just one of their last eleven games under Benitez and their 2-1 defeat to Norwich on Saturday proved to be his last in charge.
“Everton can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as first-team manager,” a club statement started.
“Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the club with immediate effect. An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course.”
Everton will be playing Aston Villa on January 22.
