Ousmane Dembele will be at Barcelona for the whole of this season after rejecting a release offer from the club.
Barcelona offered to sell the winger during this January window, but no agreement reached despite interest from top clubs. The Catalan club then opened the door for Dembele to depart, but the player is not willing to leave.
His refusal to sign a contract extension with Barcelona made them want to cash in on the player instead of risking losing him for free.
Now it looks certain that Dembele will leave Barcelona for free, but first he will have to sit on the sidelines for five months until he can, with Xavi unlikely to field him unless there is an injury crisis at the Camp Nou, and the club will have to continue to pay him his wages in full.
